Long Term Learning
Studies show that meaningful follow up and long term engagement is fundamental for the success of puppet interventions. Player One Puppetry utilizes virtual content to extend learning from a short term intervention to a long-term residency.
Learning Through Play
Fred Rogers once said, “Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning, but for children, play is serious learning.” Through play, participants are empowered to navigate challenges and empathize with characters experiencing hardships.
Anxiety Management Skills
Studies have found that the use of puppets and engaged-arts practices can help alleviate the fear and anxiety that youth experience in hospital settings. These practices also build trust, communication, and language skills. Exercises in breathing, power poses, and calming strategies are incorporated throughout the virtual phase
Multiple Points of Access
The integration of puppetry, video games, drama and visual arts provide a holistic play-based experience – youth have options for participation. Studies show mixed results with puppet based interventions that do not incorporate other art forms, because not everyone likes puppets! P1P adopts a multi modal approach to enagage many kinds of learners.

We offer a variety of services. Residencies may vary depending on the needs of a partner organization and the setting in which a residency is taking place.
Hospital Residencies
Narratives for the hospital setting primarily focus on stories of resilience and overcoming. This P1P experience is recommended for children ages 4-10. We will work with you to deliver a combination of one-on-one bedside puppetry visits, large group creative play, and an interactive performance for participants. We recognize that the needs of each individual and each organization are distinct, we will create a narrative experience that best fits the needs of your organization
In-School Residencies
Make Player One Puppetry a part of your school’s SEL curriculum. Intended for Grades K-5, Participants first complete our virtual, interactive narrative experience. After completing the game, P1P performers will come to your school for one of a kind puppet performance.
Professional Development
Invite P1P to be a part of your next professional development. Intended for teachers, artists, non-profits, and youth workers, P1P will work with you to create a meaningful learning experience for your employees.
